A Claim Adjuster’s Duties

  1. Talking to you and to any others involved in the case. This could include other drivers who were involved your accident, witnesses to your workplace injury, etc…

  2. Consulting official records from the police or hospital

  3. Visits the loss site and inspects the property damage or loss After investigating your claim, the adjuster will then verify your policy and evaluate how much money you should be paid.

Who do claims adjusters work for? Typically, claims adjusters are employed by the insurance company. In some cases, they can be independent and then the insurance company will contract with them to provide service. Whether or not an insurance company employs a claims adjuster is completely up to them. They will often contract out if the accident or issue occurred in an area where they do not have an office. Otherwise, their internal claims adjuster will handle the case.
